The Goal: Redevelopment for Thorlabs

The Town of Newton conducted visioning for the Town Center, identifying several areas for redevelopment studies, including a site along Sparta Avenue, which Thorlabs wanted to redevelop as a corporate headquarters. The redevelopment designation plan and site plan process resulted in locating the fiber optics manufacturer in the Town of Newton. The three-story, 116,000-square-foot office and manufacturing facility is home to over 250 employees.

Two additional office, warehouse and manufacturing facilities were later constructed on Diller Avenue providing an additional 210,000 square feet to the Thorlabs campus. An additional 150,000 square feet of warehouse space is currently under construction on Brooks Plaza Road. Over 600 high-tech jobs are now located on the Thorlabs Newton Campus.
