Recreation Plan
Trail Feasibility Study, Highlands Planning
West Milford Township, Passaic County, Governing Body and Environmental Commission
The Township of West Milford is a hub for outdoor recreation and tourism in Passaic County with an expansive and diverse landscape for residents and visitors to explore. The proposal for Belcher’s Creek Trail presents the community with a unique opportunity to expand upon and connect existing recreational, historic, scenic, and natural resources.
The purpose of this Trail Feasibility Study was to evaluate a proposed trail system along Belcher’s Creek with connections to adjacent trail systems and roadways, which also include a proposed pedestrian/bike path connecting the Hewitt Village Center and West Milford Center.
This is an aerial view of the southernmost end of Belcher’s Creek highlighting the proximity of the creek to both residential neighborhoods and commercial areas along Union Valley Road.
J. Caldwell & Associates prepared a comprehensive feasibility study that identified the most strategic and feasible routes that could connect numerous areas of interest around Belcher’s Creek, which happens to connect the Township’s two main commercial areas.
We worked extensively with the Township’s Environmental Commission and Planning Board in the process, resulting in a coordinated approach to implementing this trail system.
We specialize in small to mid-sized municipalties and we’d love to help.
